The prevalence of cellular telephones, along with the fact that many businesses have a dedicated fax line has used up many area codes rather quickly. We are not at the maximum limit as of yet, but there may come a day whenever we reach it and a change needs to be made.

The next three digits of the telephone number help you to break down even more where the phone call is originating from. Typically, each town has its own three digits that exist within the area code and it might even be able to help you to differentiate between a cellular number and a landline number.

Tracing a telephone number can easily be done if you know the full 10 digit number that was calling you. They area code will help you to narrow down the overall region where the telephone number originated from and the next three digits will help you to narrow it down even further. It is also possible for you to use the last four digits to reverse the telephone number and see who it was that was calling you.
